A sewage backup occurred, affecting an unfinished basement, with the utility room heavily impacted by contaminated water and debris. The affected area measured approximately 22'7" x 22'8". Contents throughout the basement required sorting, handling, and evaluation to determine which items could be salvaged and which required disposal.
The restoration team responded to the sewage backup. Contents throughout the basement were sorted, handled, and evaluated, and unsalvageable items were prepared for disposal. The washer and dryer were carefully serviced and relocated to access affected areas. Debris and sewage-affected materials, including potentially contaminated paneling/OSB wall materials, were removed from the basement. The approximately 450-square-foot basement floor was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and affected walls were treated up to approximately 2 feet in height, with special attention given to the heavily affected utility room. Two dehumidifiers and four air filtration devices were deployed for approximately three days to support drying and improve air quality. A small dumpster was used for the removal of contaminated debris. The basement and utility room were successfully cleaned, disinfected, and stabilized following the sewage damage cleanup.
